The Volvo China Open found its champion in Adrian Otaegui! The 19th event of the 2023-24 DP World Tour calendar which kicked off on May 2 saw the finale play out on May 5, Sunday at the Hidden Grace GC in Shenzhen. Meanwhile, many golfers who were aiming for the top spot on the field couldn’t help but look on as the Spanish golfer took home the win, including the trophy!
Most of the eyes in the community would have undoubtedly been focused on the trophy that the golfer was able to lift. However, they would also be wondering if that is all there is to it. The answer? Not at all, since the event boasts a considerable prize purse as well.

The DP World Tour event will award the winner, Otaegui, with a cut from the total prize pool of $2.25 million as opposed to last year’s $1.5 million. And, out of the total purse, the champ will be able to rake in an amount of $382,500 with the runner-up, Guido Migliozzi being awarded $247,500.

Apart from the title of champion and the monetary benefits, the winner will also receive a total of 14.58851 points, which is 17.20% of the total points being offered at the tournament. Moreover, the final stop of the Asian Swing will also award a figure of 500 Race to Dubai ranking points to the titleholder.
The kind of rewards being offered at the event naturally makes the community curious as to how Otaegui ended up winning the same. Especially so when the defending champion of the tournament, Sarit Suwannarut, failed to make the cut!

A total of 156 golfers started out this week in the field at Shenzhen at the Volvo China Open. But, only 68 athletes managed to make the cut, the rest, aside from Sebastian Friedrichsen who withdrew, failed to do so. At the same time, Adrian Otaegui, who topped the scoreboard did so with an 18-under over the three days of play. Moreover, he was able to clinch his fifth win on the European circuit, the last of which came at the 2022 Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters

Hot on the Spaniard’s tail was none other than Guido Migliozzi, the professional who was a stroke behind at 17-under with scores of 65-67-67 over the three rounds. Following the Italian closely were three golfers tied at T3 with a figure of 16-under; Sebastian Soderberg, Paul Waring, and Joel Girbach.
