Dwyane Wade has taken his life after basketball to another level. The 3-time NBA Champion has dabbled not only in entrepreneurship but also as an executive producer. The Barber of Little Rock received a nomination for Best Documentary Short Film. Although he didn’t win the award, he was in high spirits regarding his nomination alongside his wife Gabrielle Union.
D-Wade was seen flaunting his Versace during the Vanity Fair afterparty. Also during the event, he gave a sneak peek of his latest collection. Apart from show business, Dwyane Wade is very much involved with promoting basketball in China. He opened his first academy and hopes to guide youth in a much better way.
Basketball is extremely popular in China. During the CBA All-Star Weekend, it seems an 18-year-old had impressed Dwyane Wade. Yao Ming, the current president of CBA, and former Houston Rockets player asked Wade to speak to Yang Hansen.

Yao Ming might have nudged Yang Hansen to take some lessons from Dwyane Wade. But his previous comments about the next ‘Yao Ming’ caused some sort of storm among the media. During his appearance at the Greater Bay Area International Sports Business Summit in Macau, the 8-time NBA All-Star expressed “against expecting too much.”
“Sometimes I feel that people should not expect another Yao Ming, because I have many unique conditions.” He expressed how since his childhood his parents were very supportive. They were professional athletes so they could help him with training early on. But he still believes with a few more quality players the overall quality will improve. “If there are more players like this, our basketball level, league quality, and basketball market will be even better.”
This exactly is where Dwyane Wade can help the Chinese market. With his Li-Ning collaboration since 2013, he already understands the market. And with the addition of newly launched academies, Wade can definitely help find some gems from China.
